Back, chest, face, legs, and arms. There is one thing that each of these parts have in common – they all have hair that we are always trying to remove from it. Most of us will spend several hours a week trying to shave the hair off and to keep the stubble from irritating our skin. Others will use hot and rather painful wax every other day in the hopes that it will be quicker.
One thing that we all wish we could take advantage of is permanent laser hair removal. This is the one method that is becoming increasingly popular. Medical spas, laser clinis, and plastic surgeons will offer these treatments to anyone who is tired of keeping the hair off and their bodies’ smooth. The question that we ask ourselves is “Are lasers safe to use?”
These lasers have been approved by the FDA as a way to safely remove hair without damaging the skin. It is not like a tanning bed or the sun. Using it will not cause us to wonder whether or not we will get skin cancer or some other skin condition. Before you go through with the process we want you to fully understand how it works and other useful information.
How It Works
The treatment uses a special laser or an intense beam of light. This light is designed to aim for the beam of light will pass through the skin and aim directly for the dark pigment inside of the hair known as the melanin. When it comes into contact with it the hair follicle will be destroyed instantly.
In order for this treatment to be permanent multiple treatments will need to be used. The amount of sessions that you will go through will depend on the quality of the laser, how qualified the specialist is, how thick the hair is, and what area you are working on.
Are You A Candidate?
Unfortunately not everyone is a candidate for this procedure. In order to use this you need to have the right hair color and skin type. The treatments will work better on people who have dark hair and light skin. This is because the laser is made to target the dark pigment. People with blonde, light brown, or light red hair cannot use it.
